Used medically for over 20 years, Botox is a neurotoxin that when injected into the face relaxes certain muscles. This then softens fine lines and wrinkles smoothing the skin. Botox is injected into the lines between your eyebrows, the crow’s feet beside the eyes, or forehead wrinkles. Dr. Ariel Ostad utilizes Botox injections for the treatment of fine lines.

With any cosmetic procedure, you want to ensure the best results. We want our patients to have a positive Botox experience. Here are a few tips to keep in mind.

  • Find an experienced doctor. Ostad is a board-certified dermatologist with experience in facial procedures. He is trained to know the muscles and structure of the face. This gives him an understanding of where and how to inject Botox for an optimal outcome.
  • Be honest and realistic. Discuss your medical history, Botox experience, and your expectations with your doctor. He will use the information to determine the number of units needed.
  • Schedule your appointment prior to a big event. The effects of Botox are not immediate but can take up to a week to appear.
  • Stay upright following your appointment. Botox can migrate to other areas of the face. To ensure proper placement, avoid physical activity for a few hours following your treatment. Remember not to massage your face.

There is no “right” age for treatment.

Men and women of all ages and skin types have been successfully treated with Botox. Some patients start preventative treatments as early as their twenties in hopes of avoiding deeper lines. Others start later when the lines have fully set in and developed. There is no right age to start treating your skin. Botox still works to relax the muscles and smooth wrinkles.

Dr. Ostad hopes to make your experience a positive one. He has years of experience using Botox injections and dermal fillers to provide cosmetic facial treatments. To schedule your appointment, call us at 212-517-7900.
