Types of Acne

Increased hormone levels can cause the skin to produce an excess of sebum, making the pores susceptible to clogging. This is why acne is so common among puberty-age youth and pre-menopausal women. Whatever the root cause may be, acne is the result of pores clogged by bacteria, dead skin, sebum (skin oils), impurities, or a combination of any of these. Acne is a complex skin condition that can be caused by hormones, diet, environmental conditions, exposure to irritants, and dirt.
