Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, is when your body produces more sweat than usual from the hands, underarms, face, and more. While the body produces sweat to help keep you cool, excessive sweating can occur even when your temperature is normal and you’re not exercising. This can lead to feelings of embarrassment and anxiety, and it may even cause social isolation. Fortunately, there are ways to fight back against hyperhidrosis.

Botox® Injections

Botox® is a very popular cosmetic treatment (and for good reason!). Not only is it effective at treating fine lines and wrinkles but it can also help to ease migraines, reduce eye twitching, and even reduce excessive sweating. Botox® does this by blocking the nerve signals that flag your sweat glands to produce more sweat. On average, it takes about three to four days for Botox® to begin working in the injection site, and clients can rest assured that their excessive sweating will be mitigated for up to the next six months.

miraDRY® Treatments

miraDRY® is a non-invasive and non-surgical treatment that’s FDA-approved to reduce excessive sweating of the underarms. The treatment targets your sweat glands using controlled thermal heat energy and eliminates them without harming your skin or organs. miraDry® is performed using only a handheld device, and the entire process only takes about an hour with minimal downtime. Your sweat glands in this area won’t regenerate, either, so you can have peace of mind knowing that you’ll have permanent results. What’s more, most patients only require one treatment session to see the results they want.

Keep in mind that, while miraDRY® is a non-surgical treatment, it’s recommended to keep the treatment area clean after the process has been completed and to use a gentle soap on the area twice a day. Any antiperspirants or deodorants should be replaced and a new one should be used.

Are you struggling with excessive sweating? You’re not alone. According to the International Hyperhidrosis Society, as many as 7.8 million Americans struggle with hyperhidrosis. The good news is that treatment is available.
